Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 has received top marks in a series of tests conducted by AV-Comparatives.org, a respected independent antivirus test lab.
In August 2008, AV-Comparatives.org, a respected Austrian antivirus lab, conducted a series of tests in order to compare the effectiveness of various antivirus solutions’ on-demand detection of malicious programs. The testing was conducted on 16 antivirus products with antivirus databases dated 4 August, 2008; the malicious programs used in the tests appeared before this date.
According to the test results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 demonstrated the highest level of malware detection. Based on those results, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 was awarded the highest certification – Advanced+, confirming the program has the highest level of detection of new malicious programs, which is due in part to the solution’s heuristic analyzer.
Importantly, Kaspersky Lab has now received the highest level of certification for the tenth time in a row, never once slipping below this level throughout the history of the tests. This was the first time the new version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus had undergone the tests conducted by AV-Comparatives.org, but the product was awarded the same prize as all its predecessors.
Significantly, less than half of the solutions tested were awarded Advanced+ certification. For example, Microsoft, McAfee, F-Secure, Sophos, BitDefender, and Eset all failed to receive top marks. Their certification levels were defined as either “Advanced” or “Standard”. Moreover, the high scanning speed demonstrated by Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 earned the product a “fast” rating from the AV-Comparatives experts.

At the heart of the new generation of products is Kaspersky Lab’s new antivirus engine which dramatically increases system scanning speed.
